Congratulations to Gen Distance - Our 2023 and 2024 REALTOR® of the Year!
The Darien Board of REALTORS, Inc. has named Gen Distance as their “2023 and 2024 REALTOR OF THE YEAR”. A panel of Past President’s reviewed numerous submissions from members and unanimously selected Gen based on her dedication and passion to the REALTOR Community on a local, state and national level.
Gen was the President of the Darien Board of REALTORS in 2023 and was re-elected to serve a second term as President in 2024. She is also a Certified Professional Standards Resource for local agents. On a state level, Gen serves on the Connecticut Association of REALTORS as a Director from 2022 – 2024. She was the Chair of the Connecticut Association of REALTORS Risk Reduction Committee; Served on the Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Scholarship Committee; and is the Region 1 Vice President 2024 and 2025. On a National level, Gen served as a Director of the National Association of REALTORS representing Small Associations; She was a 2023 Delegate Body representative, sat on the National Association of REALTORS 2023 and 2024 Leading Edge Advisory Board, and is the 2025 State representative to the Risk Reduction Committee of the National Association of REALTORS.
Gen is the main liaison between the Darien Board of REALTORS and the Darien Chamber of Commerce and is dedicated to giving back to the Darien Community and it’s local charitable organizations. She exemplifies the REALTOR spirit in every way. To quote a fellow REALTOR, “Gen is an example of ethics, etiquette, grace and compassion. She has immense knowledge of the real estate industry at every level. She’s a pleasure to work with and I’m proud to call her my Peer”.
Outside of real estate, Gen’s interests are vast. She served as the President The Cultured Pearl Foundation, Inc. from 2020-2024. She also enjoys community service and sisterhood within her beloved Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Omicron Upsilon Omega Chapter where she serves in many roles including; 2018-2022 Executive Committee; 2018-2022 Secretary; 9/2023-1/2024 Secretary by Special Election; Archivist and Historian (2018-2023). She also serves at Friends School Baltimore; 2021-2025 Alumni Association Committee, 2022-2025 Board of Trustees.

Founded in 1930, the Darien Board of REALTORS® serves real estate professionals and residents of Darien by promoting & defending homeownership in CT. In partnership with Connecticut REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®, the Board is dedicated to promoting professionalism and ethical real estate practices, while also providing industry information, political advocacy and education to its members and the community, with an increased focus on kindness, diversity, equality and Fair Housing.
