Is the family gathered for the holiday season? Reserve a session with Ben Larrabee Photography! He has a few spots available between now and the New Year. For the past 23 years, Ben Larrabee has been exploring and recording the authentic details of peoples’ lives in intimate and revealing photographic portraits. The portraits not only reflect the inner spirit of his subjects, but also the uncommon aesthetic aims of an artist. Ben is dedicated to recognizing and recording those fleeting yet memorable glimpses of life that we take for granted – family moments experienced but rarely revealed in photographs. This is what he calls Moments of Grace®.

“Clara’s Dream” an abbreviated family friendly version of the Nutcracker will be held on Sunday, December 18 at Darien High School at 2 p.m. Dancers as young as four will perform with teenage dancers in this ever-popular holiday classic with a cast of more than 70 dancers. Local families don’t have to make the trek into the city anymore to enjoy cultural enrichment. Children will be dazzled by the beautiful sets and costumes. This 50-minute performance is a perfect introduction to the ballet for young audiences. Before the performance, audience members will have the chance for a free photo opportunity with a Snowflake Ballerina.

Tickets are $20. They can be purchased at the YWCA anytime classes are being held, here or by email. You can also purchase at the door the day of the performance for $25.

Darien's “Spirit of the Season” kicked off with a shop-local stroll with Festival O’ Wreaths 2.0 on November 25. The Darien Chamber of Commerce and Darien Nature Center, in a shop-local effort this holiday season, is bringing back a spin on the famous and beloved "Festival of Wreaths”.

A festive and fabulous townwide display of unique wreaths created by local artists and special friends in our community is intended to encourage people to shop locally and benefit the Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation and Darien Nature Center. Also, while strolling the shops and restaurants, delight in the new townwide holiday lights and garland provided by the Chamber and funded by the community!
