Looking to jumpstart your career? Meet Darien’s very own career advisor, Brooke Fisch! Brooke Fisch has been working as a career advisor in Darien for the last 3 years! She first had the idea to start Four Corners Career Consulting in 2018 when she saw the frustration that many accomplished college graduates were facing when applying to jobs. She wanted to help them understand how valuable they were, help them gain confidence, communicate better, and look at the job search in a more strategic way. Brooke’s work has since expanded to a much wider demographic, reaching people in career transitions of all levels.

Brooke is very involved in the Darien community. She is the Resident Consultant for Career + Calling at Everwell, which according to Brooke, “is an incredible community of women with a multi-purpose workspace in downtown Darien.” She also volunteers with the Darien Public Schools and serves on the Middlesex Middle School career day committee.

Brooke believes that people can learn so much from each other as they go through the career consulting process. During last year’s shift to Zoom, Brooke was able to help people reevaluate their own personal situations from all across the globe. “It has been so valuable to bring people together from different locations and backgrounds… The job search can be overwhelming but knowing that you have a group of people in a similar situation, supporting you, and keeping you on track toward your goals can be really powerful.”

Thank you Brooke for all that you've done for our wonderful Darien residents. Take a look at Everwell’s website here to see a list of its upcoming programs!

Julia’s Salon & Co., located at 1950 Post Road in Darien, offers a wide range of products and services to suit every hair type and style!

Owner Julia Casablanca has had 26 years of hairdressing experience -- and on 2 different continents! After owning a salon in Greece, she opened Julia’s Salon and Co. in Darien in 2019 to further her vision of the perfect salon. Since then, the salon has been heavily involved in the Darien community. From sponsoring the Darien High School athletic program to styling hair for the Darien Chamber of Commerce, the salon has done it all!

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Julia’s Salon and Co. made their clients a priority by immediately setting out to get the most powerful air purifiers on the market. Looking back on this past year, they’re “extremely grateful to [their] clients for helping [them] get through these tough times.”

Julia’s Salon and Co. wishes to thank Darien for welcoming them with open arms. Julia’s is “humbled to be considered one of the premier salons in the Fairfield County area, and that is due in no small part to [their] friends in the Darien community.” Julia’s is always on the cutting edge of new hair innovations and is constantly updating their tools to provide the best experience possible! “[They] literally have [their] doors open, as well as [their] hearts."

Theatre 308 presented the hit Broadway musical Something Rotten on Memorial Day weekend at Darien High School.

Set in the 1590s, Something Rotten tells the tale of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of the Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard”. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to their own self, and all that jazz.

DHS musical theater director, Tim Sorensen, notes that, “this show couldn’t come at a better time! After a year where theaters across the country were closed, just like in Shakespeare’s time, we get to bring the joy of live theater back to Darien.”
