CT REALTORS Foundation Awards $58,000 in Scholarships

The Connecticut REALTORS Foundation announced their 2023 Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship winners. The Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1976 in memory of Raymond F. Gates, Jr. following his tragic death in an automobile accident. Mr. Gates was the Executive Vice President of the Connecticut REALTORS. Over the past 47 years, children of REALTORS® have been awarded scholarships totaling more than $1,000,000.
For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Connecticut REALTORS® Foundation received more than 135 applications. This year, 59 outstanding children of CT REALTORS® were selected to receive a total of $58,000 in scholarships. Four Darien teens were among the 59 scholarship recipients.

The Darien Board of REALTORS held a REALTOR Spring Fling at the Noroton Yacht Club to celebrate their Darien Teen Scholars and their membership at large. The event was proudly sponsored by Tim Sickinger and Willie Mann Citizens Bank Mortgage Officers and Meredith Bach, Rand Insurance, and the Darien Multiple Listing Service, Inc.

The Foundation is pleased to highlight scholarships that are being awarded in honor of CT REALTORS Past Presidents who have recently passed away. Thomas Warnock has been selected to receive this year’s tribute scholarship in memory Larry Story, 1996 CTR Past President from theNew Canaan Board of REALTORS

Thomas Warnock is a 2023 graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School. In the fall he will attendProvidence College to study Accounting. His career goal is to secure a position with a big accounting firm.Thomas is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers with several organizations including AtriaSenior Living facility where he is the “tech guy”, helping seniors with a wide variety of electronic/tech needs.He is the son of REALTOR® Amy Warnock with Brown Harris Stevens in Darien.

Trey Davenport graduates from Darien High School this year and will attend Arizona State University in the fall. He is planning to study Engineering and his career goal is to be an industrial engineer in the bicycle industry which is a passion of his. Trey was a member of pep band, the state champion volleyball team and is also an Eagle Scout. He is the son of REALTOR® Amanda Davenport with Compass Connecticut in Darien.

Lily Donzeiser just finished her freshman year at the University of California Berkeley pursuing a degree in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Public Policy. She has joined a campus fashion newspaper that organizes the Bay Area's largest runway every year and has been working in a scientific laboratory studying cricket morphology. While her plan is to eventually earn a PhD, she hopes to become a scientific researcher in environmental sciences. Lily is the daughter of REALTOR® Michelle Donzeiser with Compass Connecticut in Darien.

Elisabeth Fischer is a 2023 graduate of Darien High School who will attend North Carolina State Raleigh in the fall to pursue a degree in Business. Her career goals are to work in finance and become a licensed real estate agent. She is a three-time National Qualifier as an elite gymnast and has received numerous accolades. As a result, she will be a member of NC State’s Division 1 Gymnastics Team. Elisabeth is the daughter of REALTOR® Bernadette Fischer with Houlihan Lawrence in Darien.
