FACES

Looking to jumpstart your career? Meet Darien’s very own career advisor, Brooke Fisch! Brooke Fisch has been working as a career advisor in Darien for the last 3 years! She first had the idea to start Four Corners Career Consulting in 2018 when she saw the frustration that many accomplished college graduates were facing when applying to jobs. She wanted to help them understand how valuable they were, help them gain confidence, communicate better, and look at the job search in a more strategic way. Brooke’s work has since expanded to a much wider demographic, reaching people in career transitions of all levels.

Brooke is very involved in the Darien community. She is the Resident Consultant for Career + Calling at Everwell, which according to Brooke, “is an incredible community of women with a multi-purpose workspace in downtown Darien.” She also volunteers with the Darien Public Schools and serves on the Middlesex Middle School career day committee.

Brooke believes that people can learn so much from each other as they go through the career consulting process. During last year’s shift to Zoom, Brooke was able to help people reevaluate their own personal situations from all across the globe. “It has been so valuable to bring people together from different locations and backgrounds… The job search can be overwhelming but knowing that you have a group of people in a similar situation, supporting you, and keeping you on track toward your goals can be really powerful.”

Thank you Brooke for all that you've done for our wonderful Darien residents. Take a look at Everwell’s website here to see a list of its upcoming programs!

HIGHLIGHTS

Theatre 308 presented the hit Broadway musical Something Rotten on Memorial Day weekend at Darien High School.

Set in the 1590s, Something Rotten tells the tale of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of the Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard”. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to their own self, and all that jazz.

DHS musical theater director, Tim Sorensen, notes that, “this show couldn’t come at a better time! After a year where theaters across the country were closed, just like in Shakespeare’s time, we get to bring the joy of live theater back to Darien.”
