Dear Darien,
Darien commemorated the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York City with a ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 11, starting at 8:25 a.m. at the Darien 9/11 Monument behind Middlesex Middle School at 204 Hollow Tree Ridge Road.
The state of Connecticut held a ceremony at Sherwood Island State Park on Thursday, Sept. 9 to honor the state’s victims. On September 10, the town of Darien, Illinois, honored those from Darien, Connecticut who died in the attack.
We remember the victims of that day, especially the six Darien residents, Christopher Gardner, Stephen LaMantia, Garry Lozier, William Meehan, Edward Maloney, and John Works. We will never forget.

Restaurant L’Ostal in Darien calls itself a Provencal restaurant rooted in history and tradition that celebrates the cuisines of southern France and its boundaries.
Even the name, "ostal" refers to the warmth of hospitality of your home, which evokes that French flair of coziness combined with fine foods and drinks. A look at its menu, which changes with the seasons, is very French, from the choices to the prices.
Starter choices include everything from spiced nuts to cheese boards and foie gras and the flow continues to such choices as fresh sea bass and shaved pork leg to other equally French delights. The atmosphere matches the menu with a warm and friendly vibe with a very knowledgeable wait staff. It's the perfect place for a special event or a relaxing evening meal on a regular basis.
The restaurant offers two seatings a day, one from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and another from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested, but walk-ins are welcome at the bar.
So, if you are feeling French, or even want to experience the tradition, stop in to L'Ostal. The restaurant is located at 22 Center St., in Darien. Visit their website here for more information.
The Darien Land Trust celebrated their sixth anniversary with a Farm to Table dinner on Saturday, August 28th.
Waterbury Field came alive with cocktails on the grass, an elegant dinner at long tables under twinkling lights. Everyone danced to live music by the local band Barnstorm!
A signature cocktail along with farm fresh hors d’oeuvres kicked off the event at 6 p.m. Then a three-course dinner with summer harvest fare from Copper Cricket Events was served on long tables outdoors followed by dancing under the stars.

Children’s Hospital of St. Louis is prepared to admit Sofia for her surgery, however, she is in need of raising a substantial sum of money to be able to travel to the United States for the complex surgical procedure.
