Downtown Darien and the town’s Noroton Heights district are getting significant facelifts.
Three redevelopment projects, one in downtown and two in Noroton Heights, will significantly modernizing both areas, adding office and retail space, residential living, and more shopping and dining options. Two of the projects could break ground by mid-2019.
The downtown project would create a pedestrian zone, centered around a Town Green, in the pie-shaped area of town bordered by The Post Road, Corbin Drive, Interstate 95 and Old Kings Highway. When finished, the Town Green area may become home to events such as the Farmers Market and Summer Nights concert series.
In Noroton Heights, one project would create a new pedestrian-friendly shopping center near the Noroton Heights train station, which is undergoing a facelift of its own. The second project would incorporate residential options with retail stores and restaurants.
